Building rooftop outlines for all significant structures in the City, represented by polygons. Areas for ancillary structures such as decks are not represented. The polygons are intended to be used as base data, and to represent the approximate generalised outline of the building. Note that the roofline may not match the footprint on the ground. This dataset represents the road network within the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and along its periphery. The network depicted includes private and public routes both paved and unpaved suitable for vehicular traffic.
This raster layer was created in 2014 for the purpose of cartographically representing hypothetical shadows in order to simulate the sun's rays over the varied terrain of a landscape. This hillshade was created using the 2012 Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with a 5m resolution and can be utilized for creating a three-dimensional effect that provides a sense of visual relief for cartographic purposes.
Boundaries for locations of significant governmental, economic, cultural, or recreational importance, represented as polygons. The locations represent the consolidation of datasets representing City of Waterloo facilities and non-municipal landmarks. The polygons were primarily created using the Teranet property fabric where the area of interest was synonymous with the parcel. In cases where the fabric was not sufficient to adequately delimit the location of interest, building footprints were utilized as a substitute. Updates and/or additions will be made as candidates are identified.
