Abstract: The dataset illustrates the preliminary locations of the station platforms for the Rapid Transit project as found in the functional design drawings approved in March, 2012. These locations are preliminary and the Region of Waterloo reserves the right to modify them. Stage 1 of the rapid transit system consists of : Light rail transit (LRT) between Conestoga Mall in the City of Waterloo and Fairview Park Mall in the City of Kitchener (19 km), Adapted bus rapid transit (aBRT) between Fairview Park Mall in the City of Kitchener and the Ainslie Street Terminal in the City of Cambridge (17 km) Stage 2 of the rapid transit system consists of; Light Rail Transit (LRT) between Conestoga Mall in the City of Waterloo and the Ainslie Street Terminal in the City of Cambridge (36 km).
Purpose: The dataset illustrates the preliminary locations of the station platforms for the Rapid Transit project as found in the functional design drawings for the RFP (June, 2013). These locations are preliminary and the Region of Waterloo reserves the right to modify them.
There is some duplication of stations between Phase One and Phase Two of the project. For example, the Sportsworld platform in Phase I is planned to be located in the Sportsworld Crossing development. Meanwhile in Phase Two of the project the platform will be located near the CP rail tracks on the eastern side of Hwy 8.
